It’s bonfire night this weekend, so we thought we would celebrate with the perfect bonfire night recipe. This chocolate pudding is simply divine! Ideal for celebrating the death of someone who wanted to overthrow democracy. It’s a rich chocolate pudding with melted marshmallows on top. Serve hot with cold ice cream.
Ingredients
- 140g butter, melted
- 375g self-raising flour
- 175g caster sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 6 tbsp cocoa powder
- 350ml milk
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the icing
- 450g light brown sugar
- 7 tbsp cocoa powder
- 700ml boiling water
- 2 large handfuls marshmallows
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180C/350F.
- Butter a large baking dish.
- Sift the flour, pinch of salt, sugar, baking powder and the cocoa powder into a bowl.
- Separately, combine the milk, melted butter, eggs and vanilla.
- Once combined, mix the dry and wet ingredients together and pour into the baking dish.
- Sprinkle the brown sugar and cocoa evenly over the dish and pour 700ml boiling water over the top.
- Bake for around 40 minutes until the pudding is puffy and firm in the centre.
- Add the marshmallows to the top and put back in the oven until they are just melted.
- Serve hot with ice cream
Add orange juice and zest to the pudding mix if you want to mix it up a bit, or serve with rich chocolate ice cream for the ultimate decadent dessert!
