Absinthe, The Bohemian Method

To continue yesterdays theme of Absinthe, we’re going to share The Bohemian Method of preparation. This is the more spectator friendly way of drinking Absinthe as it involves fire. This way was thought to have originated in the Czech Republic and spread through Europe during the 19th century. It’s quicker than the French Method, but it also results in a “coarser” drink.

Ingredients

  • Absinthe
  • 1 Sugar Cube

Instructions

  1. Pour the Absinthe into the glass.
  2. Soak the sugar cube in some Absinthe for a few seconds.
  3. Place the spoon on top of the glass and place the sugar cube on it.
  4. Light the Absinthe soaked sugar cube and let it caramelize and drip into the drink.
  5. From here you can either drink it straight or add a mixer, depending on your constitution.
