In honour of the July 4th Holiday I offer this humble recipe on behalf of our continental cousins. I suggest anyone who visits the USA to try them at least once, in the meantime, what about having a go at making your own?
Ingredients
- 225g plain flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 30g butter, melted and cooled
- 300ml milk
- butter for frying
Instructions
- Add the the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar to a bowl, make a well and beat in the eggs, melted butter and milk, and transfer to a jug
- Cover and leave 20 minutes before using it to break down the starches.
- When cooking the pancakes, remember that when the upper side of the pancake is blistering it’s time to cook the other side.
- Plate up, cover in maple syrup, sugar or anything you like.
- Enjoy!
